Bashorun Oyeniyi Sango

Spiritual Leader, Advisor, Educator Artist and Designer

Chief Oyeniyi Sango was born to the renowned family of Balogun Aliwo in Iwo, Osun State Nigeria. He comes from a deeply rooted and very traditional Yoruba Family steeped in historical practices and guardians of Ancient secrets. He has studied IFA his entire life. While growing up, Chief Oyeniyi Sango was inspired by his father, who was also a performing artist, to also share his gifts and talents as an artist.  He was determined to join a performing arts troupe, so he became a drummer, dancer and singer. Furthermore Chief Oyeniyi Sango carries on the tradition of his grandmother by designing Batik and Adire Ibile.  He watched and studied her ways as a child. In 2003 Chief Oyeniyi Sango dedicated his life to Ifa and vowed to help others around him by participating and conducting spiritual ceremonies and advice. A couple years later in 2005 he started his own group and gallery, better know as NIREP Art Cultural Center. Chief Oyeniyi is requested regularly to perform at exhibitions, workshops, private and state functions all over Nigeria. He has also performed internationally in Trinidad, Houston, Florida, South Carolina, New York and Seattle to name a few.


Chief Oyeniyi Sango is well known Art Educator and he teaches a lot of people from all over the world the techniques of dyeing fabric with traditional African patterns, quilting, applique, drumming, dancing and is a professional African drum maker.


More importantly Chief Oyeniyi Sango is also a Babalawo and an active member of the Ifa and Orisa High Priesthood.  In 2015 he built and established Ile Ogbe Alara Temple.  Then in 2016 Oyeniyi Sango was enstooled as Gbasaniyi of Ila Orangun and Bashorun given the title of Chieftaincy.  This means he is the Chief of Art/Promotion and the Defender of Society.  His overall mission is to serve, motivate and inspire his community to fulfill their best destiny.  As a traditional herbalist and spiritual advisor, Chief Oyeniyi Sango recommends that we honor Olodumare, respect our Ancestors, appease our Orisa and listen to our Elders.  He also  always invites you to visit him Nigeria.  He believes one must understand and learn about this rich ancient Yoruba culture that still thrives within the modernizations of the cities.  Nigeria is a world that moves easily between talking drums and the internet. Chief Oyeniyi Sango invites you to visit him in Nigeria and immerse yourself in African tradition and culture.
